Bracebridge

Bracebridge located in Ontario, Canada was originally called North Falls and had its named changed in 1864 to Bracebridge when the post office was opened. It is believed that the official looking after registering names was reading a novel called "Bracebridge Hall" written by Washington Irving at the time and it influenced his decision. The Township of Bracebridge has 22 waterfalls and was the location of the first hydro-electric plant owned by a municipality in Ontario. The primary business was logging in the early days but today has been replaced by tourism.
